I am a BACP registered Humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor, qualified to work with adults, young people, and children face to face in Chichester, West Sussex and online for UK residents, for short or long-term therapy.
My practice is integrative and grounded in a person-centred approach, neurodiversity affirming, LGBTQIA+ ally and trauma informed.
As well as talking therapy, I am qualified to offer creative tools to help with exploring thoughts and feelings that are hard to express. Working with each client’s needs and developmental stage, I use sand tray therapy, paint, clay, pens, collage, music, games, meditation and more. These are supportive tools to express feelings through play and creative objects and images when words are not enough.
You may feel stuck, be having sleepless nights and increased anxiety or panic attacks with worries or concerns about a relationship, at home, at work, or in an educational setting. I understand that relationships affect many areas of life, whether in the past or present. You might have been holding onto a lot of hurt for a long time and even be feeling it is your fault, have physical symptoms such as digestive issues, migraines, or longer-term health issues and seek to avoid activities, people, or places.
Perhaps you have been told you are ‘too sensitive’, ‘too much’ or felt that people misunderstand or invalidate you, you may feel less confident. I can also work with people who are considering or who have had a recent diagnosis such as ADHD/Autism and seeking support through or beyond the assessment process.
For parents who are seeking counselling for their child, I can support your child to understand emotions and build on their self-esteem, for example through a divorce or separation or school issue, to work toward achieving greater self-confidence.
In counselling with me, I will listen without judgement to whatever you need to share, and will work at your pace, to make sense of it all. We can work together to create a space where you feel safe to explore your situation and how it is impacting your life. I can support you to understand your emotions, unravel any confusion, reduce anxiety, reconnect with yourself, and rebuild your self-esteem and confidence.
I value your individual experience and that your feelings are real, valid, and important. Your counselling sessions are an opportunity to express your voice, explore your thoughts, feelings, and choices. If you feel a need to be heard and supported in your relationships, counselling with me can help you to work out the best way forward for you.
Deciding to seek counselling can be a brave step.
You may have had some or no previous experience and have lots of questions. I offer a free short chat by phone or video call, so that you can discuss your needs and see if I’m the right counsellor for you at this time.
In this first chat, we can also discuss dates and times of your therapy sessions and whether you are seeking face to face or online counselling.
To get the most out of your free consultation, it can help to write down your questions beforehand.
Once we have arrange your therapy sessions, they will take place face to face from my studio garden room in Chichester where there is parking nearby, or online. I also offer walk and talk, nature therapy in various outdoor locations for adults, which can be arranged if they suit your needs once therapy has started.
My experience has been working with issues such as social and general anxiety, specific anxieties and panic attacks, relationship issues, change and loss, financial, health and environmental issues, trauma, abuse, self harm and suicidal ideation, PTSD and CPTSD. I work in a trauma-informed way and am LGBTQ+ friendly and neurodivergent affirming.
I am a qualified Humanistic Counsellor (Dip.HE), fully insured, have an up to date enhanced DBS and have completed the BACP ‘Counselling Children and Young People’ course. I regularly attend CPD courses, am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical guidelines, a copy of which can be available on request.
Being in nature has positive benefits to the therapeutic process. Nature is healing. It can give us a sense of connection.
We can feel a sense of freedom and rejuvenation in an outdoor space. Walking in nature whilst talking can be less intense or intimidating and help you to relax more, which in turn can help you to explore your feelings.
Sometimes it is also beneficial to use your senses in an outdoor space and to relate your to the natural sights and sounds
of the walking experience.
As a trained walk and talk therapist, I am able to support you to connect to the environment and to your inner
feelings.
Sometimes, a guided meditation can support this experience and as a qualified meditation teacher, I am able to draw upon
different types of meditation to help you to find what works for you.
I have a few locations within the Chichester area that I use for walk and talk therapy. At first, we begin with some face to
face sessions before venturing outdoors.
